You should have sold Adebayor in the summer

I don’t want to get off on the wrong foot with the Arsenal mob here, there are a number of your players I do rate and I even like a select few of them, Eduardo for example.
One player I can’t stomach however, is Emmanuel Adebayor. I think his attitude absolutely stinks, he thinks he’s better than he is and you should have cashed in on his one good season in the summer when he was demanding you break your wage structure to hang onto his services.
When the Gunners beat 3-1 Spurs at the Lane in 2007, I thought Adebayor was going to be a serious player. The problem is, Emmanuel thought he was better than Thierry Henry thereafter. His attitude has gone downhill fast since then.
I can understand why Arsene was so desperate to keep Adebayor at the club with Helb jumping ship and Eduardo’s injury, but I think you would have been much better off getting rid of Mr Arrogance for what would have likely been silly money at the end of last season.
I’m sure a number of Arsenal fans will disagree but I’m just as sure a number of you will feel the same way.
If you look at how hard Eduardo has worked to get his career back and how humble he is, then look at the way Adebayor acts like a prima donna and his poor work rate. I know which player I’d rather have in my team. I think a fully fit Eduardo is twice the player Adebayor is at the moment and has been for the last 18 months.
If I was in Wenger’s shoes, I’d be hoping a club like Barcelona or Milan comes in with a big money offer in the close season because Emmanuel Adebayor is a player Arsenal would be better off without IMHO.
He is similar to Kanu…..a few seasons and they fizzle out with a club that has high intellectual demands
It’s hard to disagree with you on anything you have written here. I would snatch the hand of anyone prepared to pay £25 million for him. I truly cannot see why the Italians and some of the Spanish rate him so highly.

I dont think so. Nearly EVERYONE thinks he’s a prat. I, for one, dont want to see him in the great red and white ever again. And his latest interview, where he claims to be “one of the great players in world football”, has not helped matters.
If he’s great, what are Messi, Raul, Henry etc? Its a huge insult to them.
I liked him when he would just get his head down and run, all over the pitch, putting in an honest effort, that was when he was good. Not anymore.
The problem with Adebayor is he believes he has made the top grade. The truth is he hasn’t.
He had one good season and now he thinks he is as good as Thierry Henry.
Last season he was immense, this campaign he has been a shadow of himself.
What winds me up is that last season even if he didn’t score or play well at least he grafted.
We see none of that this season.
This is too simple a view. In retrospect, we should have cashed in on him. no doubt. And yes, I am thoroughly disappointed with him this season, he has certainly got a terrible attitude. However, after his great performances last season, and goals scored, 30! which is impressive, it felt right to hold on to him in the summer despite the great money offers coming, because he would be invaluable to us if he scored 30 goals every season. However, he has not performed so well this season, and looking back yes perhaps he should have gone, but he was looking (at the time) like he could be one of the best strikers in the world.
Adey should’ve gone in the summer for anything over 20mil. The man’s got no spine and doesn’t work at all. I never thought I’d say this but I’d even pick Nic”couldn’t hit a barn door” Bendtner over Adey. Damn shame too, looked like he was shaping up right nice like – bring on Emmanuel Jay Thomas….. kid’s going to rock.
well said … I’m a gooner s feel exazctly the same .. he may have a better season next year , but attitude is a major factor , holding the club to ransom is unforgivable… come ac milan .. pop in a 24 mill again .. wenger will bite your hands off
Agreed, Wenger should have took the money and ran like he just sold a spoiler of an old car to some idoit. Granted Ade did do very well last year but with the opportunities he was given, he could have done better. We need a pure striker …..Huntelaar!

yes in hindsight it probably wouldve been better to sell him at the end of last season. but i dont think im the only one who wouldve been properly pissed if he had gone. he was looking like a bright prospect. having said that, if we sold him at the end of this season we probably wouldnt get too good a deal and i think we should keep him. see if he can get back to his old ways we have enoough strikers coming through now to keep him on his toes and i wouldnt be surprised if he scored over 25 next season
Messi plays all over the place. Messi has been part of a Barcelona attack with Eto’o and Henry that has scorched other La Liga defenses to ashes, and he’s close behind Ronaldo. So why exactly do I believe that Ronaldo may be the far better player?
