Arsenal’s Player of the season
I thought I would ask this question now as judgement’s could be clouded if you go on and win a trophy and a player scores an important goal or has a particularly good game in a final, big if I know!
Who is the player that you Gooners feel has contributed the most to your cause as we reach the final few weeks of the season?
Here is a short list of contenders that I would be considering.
Gael Clichy – This kid has made the left back position his own since the departure of Cashley and his quality is there for all to see. He’s had another consistent season and even managed to score his first Arsenal goal.
Bacary Sagna – A player that gets some unfair criticism IMHO, even if he does resemble Venus Williams. He’s made 40 appearances this season and has become an important part of the Arsenal side.
Denilson – Denilson seems to be another player who the fans aren’t yet 100% behind but he’s another that has been a constant in the Arsenal team this season. He seems like a good character and not full of arrogance like Gallas and Adebayor so gives a good balance to the side in that respect. With 3 goals and 7 assists, his contribution can’t really be knocked.
Samir Nasri – I think this guy is another of real quality that Wenger has brought in. I’m not sure he would bleed for Arsenal but on his day he’s a special player and has been compared to Pires by Wenger. 8 goals and 4 assists in 30 appearances make him one of your most consistent players this season.
My knowledge of Arsenal is obviously not as good as most of you Arsenal fans so your player of the season likely won’t come from my list. Feel free to let me know where I’ve gone wrong!
Clichy has consistently made at least one fuck up per game recently – often quite serious ones.
Bakery Boy has not been as good as last season but not too bad excapt for the occasional lapse.
I love D(arling) 15 but he does stir up the ire of a lot of fans who think he’s rubbish. He’s only 20/21. He needs to be cut some slack. I think that he works hard but not always to the right effect. He has hardly had a moment off the pitch this season so is presumably somewhat tired.
Nasri seems to have more off the pitch than on this season.
Arshavin,in his short amount of time here so far seems to have livened things up more than anyone else.
I’m not his biggest fan but for you Wrighty.. Gallas is a good shout..
Surely RVP is the player of the season…No outbursts as capital, no beef with fellow team mates and he did his best to drag us out of those 0-0 games. goals and assists and not injured for half the season either..
2nd choice would be almunia for tolerating the madness that was our defence in the first half of the season. ..
3rd choice Denilson purely because he has played so many games and never said a negative word despite all the hatred from some sections of the gunners…a professional so far.
